There are 70 parks and public spaces in the City of Flint, a total of 1881 acres. Through a partnership agreement with the City of Flint, many of these spaces are maintained by Genesee County Parks Maintenance and/or Keep Genesee County Beautiful staff and volunteers.
The Park Partnership Agreement was first established in 2014 and has since evolved and expanded, authorizing the Genesee County Parks to seek grant funding for capital improvements for the construction and operation of Berston Park and the Flint Riverfront Restoration Project. The agreement which has been amended to become more inclusive, also allows Genesee County Parks to manage the maintenance and operation of 9 city parks included in the original agreement, and limited maintenance, including trash pick-up, playground safety inspection and maintenance, and miscellaneous park equipment repair for 54 more City of Flint neighborhood parks.
The Flint Riverfront Restoration Project is the rejuvenation of the river and riverfront through park improvements, water-based recreational opportunities, property development, ecosystem restoration and improved stormwater/flood control. The Flint Riverfront Restoration Project has evolved into the State Park in Flint. This will include Riverbank Park, Vietnam Veteran’s Park, Flint River Trail & Parkway, Lewis Street Park, West Boulevard Park, Riverside Park East, and Riverside Forest Preserve.
With over 13,070 acres, Genesee County Parks either owns or maintains 91% of all public park lands in Genesee County.

No alcohol, marijuana or illegal substances are allowed. Park rangers will issue tickets with fines of up to $100 for all violations.
