Is The Mounds open year round?

The Mounds is open 365 days a year; however, from March 15 through May 15, all trail areas of the Mounds are closed except for the 8-acre scramble area which is located to the North West of the ticket booth.  Trucks are not permitted.  ATVs, UTVs and dirt bikes are allowed.  All areas of the Mounds will reopen to all vehicles the morning of May 16. The park may close due to weather, state or federal emergencies.

    Do you need to wear a helmet?

    For operators and passengers all ORV operators and passengers must wear a U.S. Department of Transportation–approved crash helmet and protective eyewear or goggles, except when the ORV is equipped with a roof that meets or exceeds standards for a crash helmet and the operator and passengers are wearing properly adjusted and fastened safety belts.

    What does resident and nonresident mean?

    Those who live in Genesee County are considered residents.  Those who live outside Genesee County area considered nonresidents.

    Is a State of Michigan ORV sticker necessary to enter The Mounds?

    Yes, State of Michigan ORV stickers are available at The Mounds for purchase.

    Does my vehicle need to be sound tested?

    Yes, for more info visit our rules section.

    Is camping available nearby?

    Yes.  Wolverine Campground has both electric and non-electric hookups.

    Are there picnic options at The Mounds?

    The Mounds does have a pavilion area that is open to the public.

    What types of vehicles are best suited for the Rock Crawl area?

    The Mounds’ Rock Crawl area offers a variety of challenging obstacles suited to all vehicles from stock to heavily modified.

    Is alcohol allowed at The Mounds?

    No!  Alcohol is not allowed at The Mounds or in any of the Genesee County Parks.
