Shade Garden
Highlighting our native understory, or shade loving plants, the Shade Garden brings together a collection of unique and interesting plants under one canopy. Sitting near the parking lot, it is the perfect opportunity for relaxing when time is limited .
Geology Garden
The Geology Garden is located directly in front of the For-Mar visitor center and highlights Michigan rocks along with native wildflowers and grass. Our geology garden was designed to show the transformation between sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks. It is a great location to sit down and relax before or after your trail adventure.
Hoop House
Our Hoop House has been transformed into an educational space for students to learn about planting and growing. Stop in anytime to explore what’s growing or volunteer to help in the garden!
Merkley Memorial Garden
The Merkley Memorial garden is located behind the visitor center overlooking our bird feeders and the Kearsley Creek. It is dedicated to Martha Merkley who donated her land to Genesee County Parks to create what For-Mar is today. You will see native plants, benches, and a fountain as well as her favorite flowers, roses planted here.

Our Garden Exploration Space (GES) provides educational opportunities for our gardening programs. Stop in anytime to see what’s in bloom.
