kids on a field trip

At the Genesee County Parks, it is important to us that our parks and programs remain accessible for any person or group. Our nature discovery programs provide interactive and engaging hands-on programs that have been adapted to meet the needs of your specific group. Join us at For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum or have our For-Mar Outreach team come out to your facility for a program.

Grant funding has been provided to reduce the cost for individuals with disabilities and senior groups.

Project Search

Project SEARCH is a business-focused, one-year internship program for young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Most participants are enrolled while transitioning from high school to work. The hallmark of Project SEARCH is total workplace immersion, which facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training leading to acquisition of marketable work skills. Project SEARCH’s goal is to secure competitive, integrated employment for every program participant.

Host Business Partnership:

  • Genesee Intermediate School District is proud to partner with Genesee County Parks as the host business for the first Project SEARCH in Genesee County, starting in 2023.
  • The host business provides internship opportunities in various departments at Crossroads Village, For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum, and Keep Genesee County Beautiful.
  • Interns are fully immersed in the workforce within the parks during their three internship rotations.

For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum is proud to be a host business for Project SEARCH interns!
